Accessibility Statement - 5/28/2021
Masks will be required in the bookstore for the safety of unvaccinated children and immunocompromised customers and staff. The safety of all our employees and customers, young and old, remains our top priority. We will continue to require masks at all time in the bookstore until we can be sure that everyone is eligible to be vaccinated or the risk of infection has been reduced enough.
As vaccination rates are on the rise and businesses are operating at normal capacity, Copper Dog Books wants to take the opportunity to embrace the positive changes in how we operate that make things easier for some of our customers.
We will continue to offer home delivery within 5(ish) miles of the store for special orders placed online and in-store. We understand that it's not easy for everyone to leave their house for a variety of reasons, including folks with compromised immune systems, mobility issues, and people who want to shop local but find it hard to fit into their schedules. Offering free local delivery to customers is our way of reaching out to our North Shore community.
We are looking forward to welcoming authors and readers back to the store for in-person book signings, it was one of the key reasons we decided to expand our storefront. We do understand that in-person only events are not accessible to all readers so we will be including a virtual element to in-store events going forward. This will allow for participation with readers who are not able to leave their homes and readers with sensory issues who can enjoy the event from the comfort of the controlled environment of their home. Our virtual events will include subtitles so readers with hearing impairments can participate fully.
While we've made the accommodations that we think will be most helpful, we're also aware that there is no substitute for lived experience. Copper Dog Books encourages input from our customers for ways that we can be a better place for our community to gather.
